Sessions in the Blizzard

Deepest day of the year. Just ridiculous, between 3 to 4 feet deep of just powder off Eagle Wind chair. Trestle slid this morning when we got first tracks down it. I blew up spectacularly (and wrenched the crap out of my right knee), and when I stopped falling, I brought my hand up to wipe the snow off my face.... and realized that I couldn't wipe it off, because it was too deep. I had to dig myself up to the surface.

We got stuck in the parking lot, and so did the Grounds Services truck & a couple of awesome liftie's truck when they tried to help pull us out. We ended up digging out the lifties first, and then digging our car out, and then pushing it back up the embankment. The car getting out was the best feeling in the world. Oh, and we accidentally discovered the enterence to Topher's Trees & the Mountain Chapel trees-- which were excellent, see the picture of the sign below.

We then nearly had to camp out on I-70 for the night coming back home, but we were close enough to the 6th Ave exit that we just took that through Central City, Blackhawk & Golden.

It was just an epic day.
